Teaching Assistants – More important than some may think

As many of you are aware, it is not always a case of teachers being the only individuals left in control of a class, some have their own assistants, and these individuals can be extremely important to a child’s education.

Teaching assistants tend to be found in primary school classrooms, and their job doesn’t just include making a cup of tea for the teacher, they often have to impart their wisdom, and help the students engage and learn.

Often, teaching assistants will have their own selection of students to teach, occasionally those who have trouble concentrating, or those who may be falling behind in terms of the level they are at. In some cases teaching assistants are often given the children known for misbehaving and disrupting the class, but whatever collection of students they work with, they have to stay in control.

This can be difficult, because even young children can notice orders being given from teachers to teaching assistants, and they may feel less of an obligation to pay attention, perhaps they may have less respect, and this is why being a good teaching assistant is an extremely important job.

Being a teaching assistant is now becoming a career; rather than a job as a platform to becoming a teacher, and UKElearning now how important they are, so if you’re a teacher, a student or a parent, familiarise yourself with your teaching assistant (or your child’s teaching assistant), and treat them with the respect they deserve.
